Angela Nani is the name of this nice little old lady with straight hair having a fringe on her forehead. She sits on a chair and looks straight at the camera some afternoon in the early part of the 20th Century.
Angela Nani was born circa 1857 (all dates are approximately reckoned) in either Treviso or Belluno.
Nani married Domenico Billò when she was 18 years old (it could have been earlier but we're sticking to 18) in 1875.
Angela Nani & Domenico Billò had 3 daughters:
1. Maria Billò - was born in 1876, married Narcizo Bartolozo on 21st December 1895, settling in São Sebastião da Grama-SP and moving to Santo André-SP, much later.
2. Pasqua Billò aka Erminia - born on 16 April 1878, in Piave di Cadore; later married Marco Giovanni Battista Da Rin Zoldan on 31st October 1896, in São José do Rio Pardo-SP. They had 13 children (only Américo Antonio, the first died still an infant) which were all raised at a rural property belonging to the municipality of São José do Rio Pardo-SP. The whole family moved to Marília-SP in November 1927, when she was already in her 50s.
3. Antonia Billò aka Tonina (born on 28 July 1881) for according to her daughter Angelina Antonina used to tell her children she had arrived in Brazil when she was only 7 years old. As we're almost sure she arrived in Brazil in 1888, she must have been born in 1881. Tonina married Dante Corsini in 1900.
We don't know exactly when but Domenico Billò died in an accident when they were still in their native Italy, a tree fell on top of him while he was mounted on a horse. Let's supposed that was 1882.
As Angela Nani was left a widow so young and with 3 young daughters to raise, her mother advised her to accept the offer of Luigi Uccella and they were married circa 1884.
Angela Nani & Luigi Uccella had 6 children; some still in Italy before they set sail to South America and the others in Brazil to where they migrated in 1888, settling around São José do Rio Pardo-SP.
Luigi Uccella as soon as he could, bought some land (sitio) in Itobi-SP - a town next to São José do Rio Pardo - and everything looked good until 1915. He had a good wife, a big family and now he also had a brand new house which they had just finished building. The afternoon they finally set the roof on, there was a big party and Luigi drank a little more than he should. Someone took a boat and everyone was making merry in and around the lake. The boat in which Luigi was in suddenly capsized and he was drawned. Luigi's body was recovered only 3 days later. Angela Nani had lost her 2nd husband in yet another tragedy.
Angela kept on living at the farm house in Itobi where her children visited her now and then. They say Angela Nani was a small woman... but very strong. She died in early 1934, when she was 76 years old. Her daughter Pasqua aka Erminia Billò Darin (53 years old) passed away on 25 May 1934, a few weeks after her mother died. Her children made a point of not telling Erminia her dear mother had died in Itobi. So Erminia died in peace in Marilia.
1. Luigia (Luiza) Uccella (Olímpio Uccella's mother) married João Ozella aka Giovanni Ozella who had arrived in Brazil with his parents Luigia Ghindeo & Michele Ozella, when he was 14 years old. Ozella's other relatives went to Illinois, USA, probably Chicago. Luiza & Giovanni had 10 children:
1. Luiz, born in 1913, lived in Ntal-RN with his daughters;
2. Olímpio, born on 4 January 1915, in Fazenda São Bento in Casa Branca-sp; died in São Paulo on 31st October 1988.
3. Miguel - died when he was 20 years old, in Casa Branca.
4. Angelina - afilhada de Marco G.B. Darin Zoldan; died in Brasilia-DF at a son's house
5. Lúcia - was born a twin who died in infancy.

8. Terezinha - born in 1927, same year as Luzia Caroni, her cousin, was born. Married a man who worked in a bank and lived most of her life in Casa Branca-SP.

6. Joana Uccella married Victor Caroni on 1st March 1919, and lived most of their married life in Campinas-SP where he worked for Cia. Paulista de Estrada de Ferro. They had 7 children:

3. Maria de Lourdes aka Mariquinha, born on 14 December 1925
4. Luzia, born on 13 December 1927;
5. Tereza, still-born;
6. Lourdes, born on 13 September 1931; died on 18 March 1994;
7. Vito Geraldo, born on 11 September 1933.
Victor, Vittorio or Vito arrived in Brazil from Bari with his parents still a young man. After a few years here they movedo to Argentina, settled in San Juan, Mendonza where they bought a plot of land to grow grapes and make wine, but it didn't work so they moved back here and and after he met and married Joana Ucella they settled in a house on rua Luiz Pisa, in Casa Branca-SP that was open to visitors all the time. Joana was a popular person in her community for she worked as a midwife, many times didn't charge for her work, especially for those poor or Black. Joana also took care of lepers who were highly stigmatized in the 30s & 40s. Vito & Joana moved to Campinas-SP in 1946, when he started working for Cia Paulista de Estrada de Ferro. The couple moved to Santos-SP in 1960. Joana died in 1977; Vitor died one year later, in 1978.
Maria Billò was Angela Nani's eldest daughter.
